Abstract

The buildings around us, in which we live today, have a static and dynamic effect in many ways during the usage period. These effects are fire, earthquake, landslide etc. It can be caused by disasters as well as mistakes that occur during construction or use (errors due to the project, wrongly chosen building materials, uncontrolled interventions after the construction is finished, etc.). These effects cause some deformation and strength losses in the bearing or non-bearing parts of the structure. Thus, since there are many damaged, defective or old buildings in the environment where we live, it has been sought to find new demolition techniques. The old, damaged, deformed structures and the areas where the structures are located must be evacuated urgently, as their usage period has now expired. Because these unacceptable deformations or these structures that have exceeded the limits now become a risk. In this case, it is not possible to reach the desired level by repairing and strengthening the existing structures. In this situation, it is necessary to carry out urgent demolition and remove the structures from the environment in terms of the health and safety of the people living in the environment. Since there are many buildings to be demolished in the environment where we live, urban transformation activities have accelerated, and the search for new demolition techniques has also accelerated. Since controlled demolition with explosives, which has been successfully applied abroad for years, has many advantages, its application in our country is increasing day by day. Controlled building demolition with explosives, which has been effectively and successfully applied abroad for many years, stands out as an effective technique with great advantages. Explosive structure demolition has a lower cost compared to other techniques, but it also comes to the fore as a fast method. Situations may arise where explosive building demolition methods are as troublesome as they are effective. In general, the most common problems faced by buildings destroyed by blasting; situations such as failure of buildings or demolition of buildings in the wrong direction occur. For this purpose, the load amount of the structure, the blasting sequence and the hole design must be planned correctly. Thus, in order to avoid any problems, it will be beneficial to make simulations on the finite element model in order to best analyze the demolition behavior of the blasted structure and to have the best possible predictions.
