Resistance Performance of Light Steel Structures Against Heat
Abstract
There have been many earthquakes in the world from past to present. Due to the loss of life and property as a result of these earthquakes, a measure had to be taken. This situation has pushed to build structures more resistant to earthquakes. In our country, this situation came to the fore after the Marmara earthquake. The use of steel structures started to spread in this period. It has been observed that especially light steel systems are becoming widespread. Light steel system is a building system formed with cold formed profile elements. Steel structures have become very common due to their superior mechanical properties, being practical, economical, light and reusable. However, the increasing number of fires in recent times has led to negative and undesirable consequences in steel structures. Fire incident, that is, high temperature, is an event that steel structures cannot withstand and affects steel structures very negatively. Therefore, measures had to be taken against this situation. In this study, information is given about the historical development of steel structures and light steel structures. Then, the relationship between light steel structures and fire is explained. Mechanical properties and thermal (thermal) properties of steel structures and light steel structures have been studied. The behavior and attitude of thermal properties against high temperatures are presented by examining the required studies. The relationship between mechanical properties and temperature has been explained in detail. Light steel structures have low temperature resistance. The precautions to be taken in this situation, solutions have been investigated and the ideal solution has been found.
