COMPARISON OF THE EFFECTS OF STRUCTURAL SYSTEM IRREGULARITY ON BUILDINGS
Keywords:
Irregularity, Reinforced Concrete, TorsionAbstract
Within the scope of this study, as a result of the researches on the irregularities in the carrier systems, the conditions of the different structures obtained are examined and comparisons are made. In the examinations made after a damaging earthquake, it was determined that the eccentricity between the center of rigidity and the center of mass of most of the collapsed buildings was high and the structural system was exposed to second-order moment effects due to the torsional irregularity. In the examinations made by the author, some determinations were made that the effect that caused the torsional irregularity was caused by the non-uniform loads and the infill wall, which are accepted as uniformly distributed within the storey, rather than the column and shear wall design. Changing the usage purposes of the existing buildings (project modifications for enlarging the rooms in the flat, expanding the volumes in the spaces used as shops) increase the displacements between the floors and torsional irregularity
